Tired of dealing with doctors repeat visits, more copays, more meds, sometimes seems like a giant practice session. Take back pain hmmmmmm what is the general route or path of our medical system? MEDICATION, XRAYS, PHYSICAL THERAPY, SURGERY/PAIN MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST.
In my 12yrs of doing massage therapy Ive come across many people and many have chosen these paths above. However when all is said and done I see alot of people as a last ditch effort. Quite a few have ran the course of seeing everyone but a massage therapist. I often wonder why this is, could it be our low level of training? Perhaps you had a issue with a bad therapist that wasnt able to meet your need? Pehaps you had rather just pay the copay and see whoever is on the plan and hope they are there for your best interest.
Im curious why is it that so many people buy into the way of the medical system? Ive never seen one doctor spend over 10 minutes with you it is all about numbers. I may not be the brightest guy on the planet but a massage therapist spends much more time with you and gets paid far less. Do we place that much emphasis on education?
Mind you I would not go to a therapist for heart surgery or a problem with my eye, so I truly do believe doctors have their place. However if my back was tight or sore I would not make a trip to any one other than a person whom I thought was great at what they did. This would probably be with someone who has knowledge about the muscles. Im sure I will piss many off with what I am about to say however take responsiblity for your self and quit thinking that the easy path to killing the messenger who delivers the message is the best approach. Cheap is not always best, you have many people who are now going to use their insurance card to determine the care they need. Why because its cheap, the copay is cheap. The real answer may be within you taking the route to a career path change. After all 15hrs is a long day to hunch over a computer.
You have one life and one chance to make a choice at each moment think hard about making the right choice and how this choice will help or hurt you in the end.
Wouldnt you rather just put in a little time now by stretching and eating better and getting a decent massage to care for your body from time to time, versus having your system break down little by little or all at once and rob you of your freedom...
Yes I do like massage chairs however never met one that massaged my psoas.
